For my class, one project will be to read a novel, write a book report about it, and give a presentation. The first step is to choose your book. Your book should…
- be a novel (fiction)
- have 100 pages or more (not counting illustrations)
- have chapters
- be in English
- not be a book you have read before, in English or another language
- be approved by the teacher – very important!
In addition…
- I prefer that you choose a book that is not also a movie. However, if you choose a book that has been made into a movie, you will be required to compare and contrast the book and the movie in your oral report.
Dates for this project:
Jan 28 (Mon) – Have your book chosen and bring it to class to be approved
Feb 4 (Mon) – deadline for changing books
Feb 4 – Apr 7 (every Monday) – In class, write a short summary of what you have read that week
Apr 7 (Mon) – Finish reading your book by this date (it’s okay if you finish early!)
Apr 11 (Fri) – Written book reports due
Apr 14-15 (Mon-Tues) – Oral presentations in class
