1. In your own words, what is this story about?
The story is about a young girl who is very ambition. She came from China to America to achieve her dreams. She wants to serve her family and country .
2. What does Ying Ying Yu believe?
She believes in duty. She believes the duty will offer her something true and worthy of her effect and the support of her family and country.
3. What did Ying Ying first want to do when she grew up?
She wanted to learn anything to get a good great.
4. What is her plan, now?
Now, her life is focused on studying. She likes working outdoor. She doesn’t want to be a gardener. She wants to be a lawyer to serve her family, heritage and country.
5. At first, Ying Ying had a hard time “opening up” her feelings to write this essay. What made it easier?
Reading other’s people stories made it easier to her.
6. Write about your personal thoughts on this topic. Do you think your country and culture have affected your life goals?
My goals are affected by my culture which is derived from the Islamic religion.
I’ve learned to be proud of our morality system and to always stick with it.
