Note: The poem Alice recites for the Caterpillar, “You are old, Father William,” is a parody of a real poem called The Old Man’s Comforts and How He Gained Them by Robert Southey. A parody is a piece of writing that copies the style of another piece of writing, but changes it to make it funny or make a point.
